Who you are and What You’ll Do

The Client Strategist is the principal client strategist and account lead on an assigned client portfolio. Responsible for overall research and development of channel plans for assigned clients across all paid media channels. Required to develop and maintain a solid understanding of the clients’ business and apply their media knowledge to deliver against the clients objectives.

The Client Strategist provides support and follow-up for all client inquiries and maintains strong relationships with assigned clients. They prepare research based marketing strategies, presentation materials, media brief, measurement strategy, and channel strategy. Client Strategist is responsible for overall client strategy effectiveness, satisfaction, and profitability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities. (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Media Brief – Understand the client’s core business in order to develop Media Brief for agency teams. This includes thought leadership and client management to answer critical questions to inform the planning process from measurement/channel strategy to tactical strategy. Utilized True Process and best practices across assigned accounts. Collaborate cross team within True Independent Holding.
  • Research – Lead research and analysis for assigned clients including (but not limited to) audience, competitive, journey and results. Deliver to both Client and Activation Strategy. Understand the agency’s research tools and know how to leverage them to create strategic media plans.
  • Measurement Strategy – Create and document Measurement Strategy based on client input, research and data. Ensure client approval. Work with the Analytics department to develop measurement plans to assess success of client campaigns. Prepare and share campaign results externally to clients on effectiveness of media plan, as outlined in measurement strategy.
  • Channel Strategy – Create Channel Strategy that supports the measurement strategy and garner client approval. Clearly articulate/collaborate with Activation Strategy to ensure a smooth process into the tactical plan.
  • Client Relationship -Establish and maintain goodwill and strong working relationships with the client, including regular calls, visits and check-in’s to ensure the agency is meeting their needs. Respond to client requests in a timely manner. Act as the conduit for all True Media communication and interaction with the client. Understand plans to the degree necessary to answer most questions. Ensure accurate invoicing of client. Work with teams across the agency to ensure timely signoff and feedback from client. Coordinate the development of agency Point of Views (POV) and rationale on media opportunities for submission to the client. Involvement with Client Satisfaction survey.
  • Revenue – Accountable for profitability of assigned clients including contract familiarity and implementation such as billable functions, scopes, etc. Work with Project Manager to maintain current and accurate time records related to all functions of agency, client and team work assignments in Advantage software system.

  • One – five years of professional work experience in media planning and client management or related agency experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with industry tools and systems (such as Simmons, Scarborough, Media Audit, eTelmar, eMarketer)
  • Have strong understanding of media fundamentals including, media math, reach/frequency, consumer/market research, plan development, measurement strategies laddering to business goals, client relationship building, etc.
  • Successfully pass Google Analytics Individual Qualification, Google Ads Fundamentals, Google Ads Search, Google Ads Measurement within 6 months in position, then renew yearly. Other training may be required as needed and assigned by supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, degree or concentration in advertising, marketing or communications preferred
