FRONT END DEVELOPER

Windmill Design is a small but growing design and development firm in Minneapolis, MN. We offer a friendly, casual, small team (four people), and a work environment high on responsibility and low on politics. Compensation package includes healthcare, paid vacation/holidays (including your birthday), IRA matching, flex schedules, and a comp time program. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create clean, accessible, pixel-perfect HTML and CSS from design files provided by the design team, or client, as the project dictates
  • Build highly customized Open Source CMS-driven websites
  • Modify and edit existing plugins/modules to customize functionality
  • Test websites for cross-browser compatibility in a PC and Mac environment, as well as mobile and tablet
  • Code and test responsive websites
  • Work in a Mac environment using Coda, Adobe Creative Suite, Powerpoint, Microsoft Word/Open Office
  • Other related responsibilities may be assigned as needed to help the company operate efficiently

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • A strong web development portfolio showing a working knowledge of code, SEO, user experience, and attention to design detail
  • Ability to quickly devise solutions to complex problems
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to juggle several projects and deadlines concurrently when needed
  • A self-starter who can work with a team as well as manage projects independently
  • Extensive knowledge of HTML/CSS, SEO and web standards
  • Experience working with and/or implementing open source CMS's (WordPress, Drupal, Magento and/or Joomla)
  • Ability to learn other CMS and eCommerce engines as needed
  • Ability to work with/modify JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP
  • Experience working with CPANEL, WHM, PHPMyAdmin in a LAMP environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with outside programmers or vendors as needed
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in design, interactive design or related area preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years industry experience preferred
  • Nice to have: ability to code and test HTML emails that display consistently in a variety of browsers, ability to create custom plugins, ability to write PHP and/or JavaScript
